Green Business In Australia Gets A Lift From Renewed Green Energy ...

Green Business In Australia Gets A Lift From Renewed Green Energy Policy
by: Ashly Sun
Australian renewable energy operator AGL Energy [AGK: AU] will push through with its $ 716 million investment for the Macarthur wind farm. The decision to fund green building Australia was brought about by the new policy launched by Australian climate change minister Penny Wong. The revised policy divided renewable energy market into small-scale and large-scale schemes.
Dubbed as Australia?s Renewable Energy Target program, the program is a means for Australia to acquire 20 percent of its energy use from renewable energy sources by the year 2020, mainly through using renewable energy certificates (R.E.C.?s) that are given to large-scale project developers.
The program enables certificate holders to sell their certificates to those who consume more energy such as utilities. The utilities are required to get 20 percent of their electricity from renewable energy.
Under the Rudd government, households with small-scale renewable energy capabilities are also allowed to sell certificates. The increase in certificates of up to five times had decreased the market price for R.E.C.?s, resulting in the pulling out of big investors in the wind, solar, and other renewable energy projects.
The decision to include certificates sold by the small-scale renewable energy almost cost the Australian government to lose around 22 billion Australian dollars worth of renewable energy projects, prompting the re-organization of renewable energy programs so that cheap renewable energy certificates would be abolished from the market.
Under the new program, a small-scale scheme can now be distinguished from a large-scale scheme starting on January 1, 2011.
The fixed price for small-scale projects like domestic solar panels will be 40 Australian dollars per megawatt-hour of electricity generated, equivalent to a refund of 1,200 Australian dollars for a solar hot water system and 6,200 Australian dollars for a 1.5 kilowatt solar panel.
Although prices for large-scale resources are not given, the government expects at least 45,000 gigawatt-hours from the combined efforts of both small and large-scale efforts by the year 2020.
Together with New Zealand?s utility firm Meridian Energy, AGL Energy will be building the MacArthur project which is expected to generate 945 gigawatt of electricity every year. Construction is expected to be completed within three years after the start of the project.
The MacArthur project is expected to fulfil part of Australia?s annual acquired energy from large-scale projects target of 10,400 GW by 2011, 18,000 GW by 2015 and 41,000 GW by 2020.
AGL Energy is the biggest Australian gas and electricity retailer. Listed on the Australian Securities Exchange, AGL aims to expand its industry in upstream electricity and gas supply, and the downstream retail of electricity and gas.

Green Energy Live, Inc. Update for 2011 - Business News

Kailua, HI (PRWEB) June 14, 2011
We are pleased to announce the appointment of Richelle Kim to the position of President and CEO of Green Energy Live, as of February 2, 2011.
GELV has relocated the company headquarters to Kailua Hawaii. GELV believes there are tremendous opportunities for Green Technology in the state.
The Hawai‘i Clean Energy Initiative is leading the way in relieving our dependence on oil by setting goals and a roadmap to achieve 70% clean energy by 2030 with 30% from efficiency measures, and 40% coming from locally generated renewable sources. Hawai‘i’s clean energy goals are the most aggressive in the nation – and if we succeed, we will become a world leader in clean energy. – HawaiiCleanEnergyInitiative.org
In 2010, Green Energy Live was unable to generate sufficient revenues to cover operational expenses and capitalize on the development of other green technology projects, which negatively impacted its stock price.
The Company was unable to obtain adequate financing to acquire Peck Electric and Electrocell, and, as a result, GELV has elected to withdraw its letters of intent. Green Energy hopes to re-establish negotiations with both companies at a later date when financing becomes available.
The financial circumstances of GELV have resulted in delayed filings of its audited financial statement. The Comanche acquisition has not been completed, and we hope to renegotiate our terms in the future and complete the acquisition.
Green Energy Live is still committed to developing green technology for fuel, farming and waste management. Various projects such as bio fuels, organic fertilizer and a patent pending gasification and heat monitoring process will continue to be part of our business model.
Ms. Kim believes that attention should also be focused on other green technologies that can produce revenues much sooner for the company such as solar, wind and hydro.
“We intend to pursue all projects that will generate revenues for GELV now and delay projects that are in early stage development until we have the resources to complete such projects. Though I commend the efforts by my predecessor, too much time and money has been directed towards projects that are not immediate revenue producing ventures.”
Ms. Kim has reduced operating expenses and is working on completing audited financials, hoping to re-establish Green Energy as a fully reporting company. “We hope by addressing this issue and implementing other new strategies we will improve the price of our stock for our shareholders.”
“We are recommitting ourselves to the mission of Green Energy Live, Inc.” says Ms. Kim.
About Green Energy Live (OTC Markets: GELV) Green Energy Live, Inc. is engaged in developing sustainable biomass-to-energy conversion technology to meet a critical need for the nation's $154 billion livestock industry. The company plans to use its proprietary gasification technology for the development of highly innovative, on-site manure-to electricity conversion systems to enable livestock farmers and ranchers to convert their animal waste into clean, renewable energy.

Green Energy PR - Business

For companies of the environmentally friendly persuasion, it's tempting to want to shout about those efforts from the rooftops in hopes of attracting positive attention. That can be a great move - as long as it's done correctly. Green energy PR is a specialty honed by many communication professionals who are well-equipped to help your business make the most of your environmental friendliness initiatives.
Some of those professionals have made a career out of green energy PR, while others have worked for organizations that inadvertently helped them develop the specialty because of in-house environmental friendliness initiatives.
Lots of interesting sustainable energy projects are going on around the world right now. In New York, for example, there's work being done to reach the goal of having 30 percent of all energy used statewide come from renewable sources. All over the country, schools are switching to more environmentally friendly bulbs and reworking policies to ensure that lights are turned off when they're not being used. Schools with the resources to do so are even installing the kind of lights that switch off automatically when motion sensors don't detect anyone in the room. Green roofing is also becoming more and more popular, especially on new buildings.
The reason it's important to have a professional involved in your green energy PR is because it's easy to cross the line from appropriate to too much. Making your organization sound greener than it is is a practice known as "greenwashing," and people are developing a keener eye for it - especially as so many organizations seek credit for their green initiatives without also seeking the counsel of a green energy PR professional. The public can be quite harsh when it suspects that an entity is taking more credit for environmental friendliness than it deserves. For example - large corporations that make a big deal when they put a green roof on a new building, or when one facility out of a thousand gets an Energy Star rating, can be accused of "greenwashing." And that's the danger of promoting such initiatives without the counsel of someone experienced with green energy PR.
That's not to say that even those businesses don't deserve credit. Every little bit helps when it comes to conserving natural resources. The point is to illustrate the importance of seeking that credit with the finesse and expertise that a communication professional can provide.
A communication consultant with experience in green energy PR can help you find the right balance - drawing positive attention to your environmental friendliness efforts in a truthful and sustainable manner.
