As the electricity prices are increasing day by day, people are compelled to use other alternative electric ways or suppliers to acquire electricity. The variable rate will will not guarantee such savings, however the savings should be available for at least the near future unless unforeseen events occur that can disrupt the energy markets at the wholesale levels such as a natural disaster. However, customers are not locked into a variable rate for any specific time period, so they can leave if the rate was to get higher than the default rate.

Commercial electricity customers have to worry about the above concerns plus a whole new set of possible traps. Commercial companies have access to a variety of products and contract concessions that residential customers will not see. If educated, these business energy consumers can greatly benefit from electric choice, but they need to be careful about traps that companies can insert into the electric contract.

Due to the fact that commercial customers are individually priced with electric suppliers, the "best price supplier " for business electricity is constantly changing and is dependent on the customer's specific usage demand patterns. To get the best rate offer, a copy of a business electric bill is needed.

Green Energy: Electricity From Wind

Oooh, I want one so bad!! A windmill, or wind turbine, that is. And not just any turbine, I want a vertical axis wind turbine. I want to generate green energy, or electricity, from wind.
After we installed a solar array to generate about 7.5kW/day I got to thinking that we were missing some valuable energy production time by not having a wind turbine. A that time the guy who installed the photo voltaic array told us we weren't good candidates for wind energy. Huh? It seems to me the wind blows all the time here. How could we not be good candidates?
His reply was that the wind we get is erratic, going from nothing to 14mph, down to 5mph and up to 35 mph. Traditional turbines need higher wind speeds to efficiently generate electricity, and don't deal well with gusts and wind shears like we tend to get around here.
In my heart I knew there had to be a better way. The west was tamed with the help of windmills. How, in the age of improved technology, couldn't there be a better deal than there was over 100 years ago?
Turns out there is. I first saw and appreciated the brilliance of a vertical axis turbine at a greening of the hotel industry meeting several years ago. An architect was sharing his energy-conserving design for a building he had just built. Not only did he employ a green wall on the south side of the structure to create shade for the building, a very cool concept -- if you'll excuse the pun, but also he had a wind turbine.
The way he placed the wind turbine was part of the cleverness of the arrangement. He had turbines placed at the corners of the buildings in what looked like stairwells, sticking above the roof line. The "stair well" housing the turbine was open on the roof side so that not only did the turbine catch blowing wind, but also wind "bouncing" off the roof. How cool is that?! Very.
I came right home and tried researching a vertical axis wind turbine so I could sell My Bigger Half on getting one for his office space. It was challenging to find enough information to share with him on the subject, much less to get him excited about it. I found a short video clip (linked below) of Jay Leno installing one on his garage warehouse in Burbank, and one or two manufacturers, and a few DIY models, but that was about it.
But today there is lots of information. Yaahooo! Now there are several videos of different vertical axis wind turbines, lots of manufacturers, and various wiki entries about them.

The past few days I so wish we had wind energy going at the house, it's been too windy for anything but generating electricity! I bet we could avoid paying any electric bill if we hand a wind turbine at My Bigger Half's office. One day we'll have one and I'll be so happy about it.

Environment Friendly Green Electricity by Christian Wilson

Currently, over 60 percent of Britain?s electricity is sourced from coal or gas powered electricity plants. These are non renewable as they are made from valuable fossil fuels which take thousands of years to form. By burning these, they also produce greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide which are the main cause of climate change.
The remaining electricity is produced by nuclear power stations, which can be dangerous as their waste products are highly radioactive. We already have a variety of renewable energy sources that use natural creations present on the Earth to create energy. Here are the main examples:
Solar Power
Solar energy is sourced from light produced by the sun, and then used to make electricity. It doesn?t need to be a sunny day for this to work either, sunlight is still there when it?s cloudy. Semiconductor technology is used to make this work, and is usually integrated into the roofs of buildings. This energy is able to heat water directly, making it a greener alternative to coal, gas or nuclear.
Wind Power
Wind energy is collected via the use of turbines or windmills, which are a very popular method around the UK, and you will often see these in areas of high altitude in rural locations, such as costal or mountainous regions. It is very effective and is used internationally in order to source a fairly large proportion of our green energy.
Hydro Power
Water which runs at a speed, such as in a river or the tide of the sea, can be channelled by a water turbine and used to produce electricity. This method has been in use for over 100 years, and at the moment it is currently producing 1% of the UK?s energy.
In Iceland for example, there are hot rocks deep underground which can be used to produced Geothermal Energy. When the steam surfaces, it helps to operate steam turbines. On the other hand, water can be pumped into the Earth and heated by the rocks. This method is usually used to provide hot water and heating.
Biomass
Many farms across the country produce a large quantity of waste every year, and this can be used to fuel small power stations. Plants absorb carbon dioxide naturally, which is emitted into the atmosphere upon combustion so it doesn?t add to climate change.
The public?s interest in green electricity is constantly growing, and energy providers have been looking for ways to make their production more environmentally friendly, in order to meet their consumers expectations. They can do this via various means, such as offsetting any carbon they do create, and supporting or building green energy stations, such as a new wind farm or water turbine. They may also aim to increase the percentage of their electricity they source from renewable resources.
